The only Romanian fighter of domestic design to take part in WW II. In fact, the particular subject of this build (IAR.81C No. 343) participated in the defense of the Romanian oil industry when, on June 10th, 1944, 23 IAR’s attacked and shot down 10 P-38 Lightnings while on route to their bombing mission.
