This diorama depicts the famous Mosquito bomber raid which successfully freed French Resistance prisoners from Amiens prison in France in February 1944 by blowing precision holes in the prison walls. Bombing was conducted while flying at ground level at 240 mph. Careful historical research has been done to make the scene as authentic as possible, including accurate models of cars used to assist escapees. This raid helped to deceive the Germans into thinking that the Allied invasion would come in the Pas de Calais area rather than Normandy as actually happened. Modeller is Jack Wolowich.
